Privacy policy
Last updated 6 September 2026. This policy covers the david app and this website.
david is made by QareAI. This page says what the app collects, what it does with it, and what it never does. It is written in plain language on purpose. If anything here is unclear, write to admin@qareai.com.
What we collect
Your account. When you sign in with Apple or Google we receive your email address, a stable identifier from that provider, and, for Google, your name. We use these to sign you in and to tell your data apart from everyone else's.
Your answers. During setup you tell us your training goal, your experience level, how many days a week you train, what equipment you have, and any injuries or pain. We store these to build your plan.
Your workouts. Every exercise, set, rep, weight and effort tap you log. This is the core of the app.
Your daily check-in. When you answer the morning questions we store your ratings for soreness, energy, sleep quality and stress, and whether you reported pain.
Your health data, reduced to daily numbers. With your permission, the app reads six recovery signals from Apple Health on iPhone or Health Connect on Android: heart rate variability, resting heart rate, respiratory rate, sleep duration, sleep efficiency and wrist temperature. The phone reduces each one to a single number per night and sends only that number. Individual readings never leave your phone. The app also records which device or app the number came from, such as an Apple Watch.
Usage events. The app records what happens inside it: which proposal was shown, what you were offered, whether you accepted or declined, and errors. This is how we judge whether the app works. These events never contain health values.
What the health data is for
Each day the server compares last night's numbers against your own recent history and turns them into one readiness band. That band, together with what you logged recently, is what the app uses to propose a change to today's session.
On first sign-in the app also imports up to three months of the same six nightly signals from before you installed it. This is so the app has a baseline for you from day one instead of after two weeks. It is a different thing from looking at your recovery each morning, and we want you to know it happens.
What we can and cannot see
We do not receive your raw heart rate or sleep readings. We do receive one number per signal per night, and we keep a rolling baseline of your typical values. Because both are on the server, we could in principle work back to a close estimate of an individual night's resting heart rate or heart rate variability. We are telling you this rather than claiming we hold only anonymous statistics. We do not use the data this way.
Health data is sensitive
Health data is treated as sensitive personal data under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. We collect it only with your explicit permission, only for the purpose above, and you can withdraw permission at any time in your phone's health settings. If you do, the app stops receiving new daily numbers and can no longer compute your readiness.
The AI model
When the app proposes a change, the server sends a short summary to an AI model provider: your readiness band as a number from one to five, the exercises in today's session, recent sets you logged, and a fixed list of legal changes to choose from. The model picks one and writes a two-sentence reason. Your name, email and individual health values are not sent to the model. The model never sees your raw health data and never invents an exercise or a weight. Every proposal is checked by our own code before you see it.
Where the data goes
Your data goes to a server we operate. During the pilot the app is used by a small group of invited testers, and their data is looked at by the QareAI team to judge whether the app works. We do not sell your data and we do not share it with advertisers.
How long we keep it
We keep your data for as long as you have an account.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account from inside the app. This permanently removes everything we hold about you: your workouts, your daily health numbers and baselines, your check-ins, your proposals, your usage events and your sign-in identity. It is a real deletion, not a hidden flag. The app also wipes its data from your phone. You can also ask us to delete your account by email.
What the app never does
- It never diagnoses. It describes what it observed and what it changed.
- It never changes your plan without asking you.
- It never sends individual health readings off your phone.
- It never logs a health value to analytics or crash reports.
